Spring will be a key time for our ecological baseline surveying, and with 5000 hectares of project land to cover, we are keen to enlist the support of enthusiastic volunteers!

If flowers and insects hold the taxonomic key to your heart and you’re willing to lend us one or two days a week from April - July, you could be just the person to help with our Wyescapes pollinator surveys!

Or if you're a dedicated birder with good identification skills (experience of the Breeding Bird Survey would be ideal), an early riser (happy to be out around dawn), able to commit to 3 or more half-day surveys between April and July, you could give a brilliant boost to our bird surveys!

If you think you might be able to help with either of these important tasks, please let us know so that Esther Clarke, the project’s ecologist, can follow up with you. Please contact Esther on e.clarke@herefordshirewt.co.uk

Wyescapes is a long-term, Landscape Recovery project along river corridors of the Wye and Lugg in Herefordshire. 49 landholdings will collaborate to restore habitats and recover nature across 5000 hectares [between Leominster and Symonds Yat], whilst producing quality food and produce in more sustainable ways. The Wyescapes project is led by Herefordshire Rural Hub in partnership with delivery partners Herefordshire Wildlife Trust, Herefordshire Meadows, and The Wye and Usk Foundation. Wyescapes is funded by Defra until March 2026 for the project development phase.
