WildPlay

Our WildPlay Rangers feel passionately that children need the opportunity for joyful and playful experiences outdoors. Chances to manage and take their own risks, build their confidence and make judgements independently. These early connections with nature supports all areas of development as well as health and wellbeing, embedding skills they will use for the rest of their lives. Play is fundamental to a child’s emotional, physical and cognitive development.

Allowing our children time and freedom to play in nature, nurtures them into becoming adults who love and care for the natural world around them.

Children’s opportunities to play and explore in nature have been reduced through a variety of physical and social factors, which include poor access to spaces for outdoor play as well as parents and carers concerns for their children’s safety . Compared to their grandparents generation children are 62% less like to play outside with much of their free time spent interacting on digital platforms or in organised clubs.
