About the event
Can’t tell a Small White from a Green-veined White or a Small Skipper from an Essex Skipper, maybe even a Holly Blue from a Common Blue? This is an opportunity to learn at one of the best sites for butterflies in the county and easy reach of the city.
Come and join us for part or all of the day and look for some of the butterflies of Herefordshire.
In the afternoon there will be gentle walk on the south side of Haugh Wood, looking for the last Wood White and the first Marbled Whites and White-letter Hairstreaks. In 2023 we encountered 22 species on a walk along the rides on the south side including a rare sighting of the Purple Hairstreak. Let’s hope the weather and the butterflies are with us in 2025! This is a joint walk with members of the national charity, Butterfly Conservation.
