Award Winning company Border Oak join Herefordshire Wildlife Trust to support nature’s recovery in the county
Herefordshire Wildlife Trust are delighted to welcome Border Oak as corporate members. As well as supporting the Trust’s own work restoring and creating wildlife habitats, Border Oak are keen to expand their own sustainability and nature-friendly practices. Border Oak have been at the forefront of sustainable design and construction for more than four decades, and continue to innovate and pioneer sustainability advances within the self-build sector. Herefordshire Wildlife Trust are excited to be working with Border Oak to support them to do even more for wildlife on their land and in and around the new buildings they create.
Border Oak’s Creative Director Merry Albright said: “We are thrilled to become a partner to the Herefordshire Wildlife Trust and look forward to working alongside them on projects in Herefordshire. Whilst there are many challenges facing wildlife and ecology in the county today, we hope that by forging strong partnerships working towards common goals, we will be able to help to protect and enhance this beautiful area. Border Oak want to play our part on our developments, at our workplace and on our small farm and we very much appreciate the work that the HWT do both in practical terms and through campaigning and raising awareness. ”
Herefordshire Wildlife Trust CEO Jamie Audsley says: “We’re very excited to be working with Border Oak. They share our passion for wildlife and for Herefordshire’s beautiful landscapes so its wonderful to have their support – and to work with them to do more great things for nature.
“Herefordshire Wildlife Trust’s mission is to put nature into recovery: reversing the declines in the abundance and diversity of native habitats and wildlife. Everyone should have the chance to hear the call of the curlew across Herefordshire’s meadows, walk through boughs of blossom in our traditional orchards and watch wildlife from the leafy banks of cool, clear rivers.
The Trust, however, can’t do this alone. We need to collaborate with landowners, communities, schools and businesses to create a wilder, greener and more sustainable Herefordshire. There are a multitude of ways we can make a difference together from small projects such as installing wildlife ponds to recovering nature on a larger-scale – collaborating on wetland creation or meadow restoration for example.
We are keen to work with urban and rural businesses to support nature-friendly practices from landscaping and planting around offices and inspiring staff and customers to looking out how production methods or supply chains can be altered to be better for nature.”
