Update: 12 September 2024
We have learnt today that the developers proposing the massive 'East of Hereford' development alongside the Lugg Meadows SSSI have been granted more time to amend their application.
The initial application faced huge public opposition with over 1,000 objections submitted. Multiple issues with the proposal were highlighted including from statutory consultees. The developers were believed to be working on amendments to address these issues by the start of September but had not submitted these to the planning authority to date. Now they have been given more time to do so with a new deadline of 20th December.
Herefordshire Wildlife Trust does not believe any adjustments to the plan would make it acceptable as the increased disturbance to wildlife on the meadow with a large new estate right alongside cannot be mitigated for.
