Event details
About the event
Nigel is a self employed consultant specialising in reptiles and amphibians (herpetologist) working with conservation bodies to improve the focused conservation of these widely overlooked species.
An authority on the UK adder, having worked with the species across both England and Wales. In 2010 he developed a methodology for radio tracking the venomous snake following trips to both America and India helping out on Timber rattlesnake and King cobra radio telemetry studies. His work with the UK adder has shed greater light on the secret life of this maligned serpent for the last 14 years, including over a number of locations within Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Staffordshire and Shropshire where the species is now extremely rare.
Nigel was employed as a consultant for the adder filming working on the recent acclaimed Wild Isles series shown on BBC 1 (see pictures) He has also featured on numerous tv programmes highlighting the species and continues to do so.
This talk will detail the species found across Herefordshire and concentrating on the local reptiles particularly the adder.
