About the reserve

The woodland is of two parts - on the older east-facing slope grow oak, ash and coppiced hazel, whilst in the western section birch, rowan, yew, beech, field maple, holly, hawthorn, wild cherry, crab apple, elder, damson, elm (both wyche and English), larch and Scots pine all flourish.

The ground flora is typical of ancient woods including dog's mercury, wood sorrel and ferns while bluebells, primroses, yellow archangel and violets are amongst the colourful Spring flowers.
