Ross Branch Winter Talks - Story Telling: Connecting to Nature
Event details
About the event
I have a passion for stories of a traditional nature, whether traditional or in the style which I collect and create. I love sharing these with people of all ages, it keeps alive an old tradition, helps us connect to our past which helps develop a sense of belonging.
It helps us connect to nature as they are all set in and relate to nature, which is vital in our modern world where people are so disconnected from nature and suffering as a result. We do not value nature, so we do not care for it.
In my session I bring alive nature and the past with stories like Why the hare has a split lip and runs so fast, or The Greenman, which are traditional stories that would have been told to educate children.
Some stories were told to recount history like Life on the Edge or Paradise to Nightmare. Whilst others were told just to entertain us like I am the biggest, I am the boldest, I am the….
When I visit suitably attired in my storytellers outfit I bring to life this wonderful tradition of storytelling so different from reading a story.
