Wye Adapt to Climate Change? Project Blog

The Wye Adapt to Climate Change project, begun in 2023, is a partnership between the Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) Partnership, Radnorshire Wildlife Trust and Herefordshire Wildlife Trust and will focus on recovering nature, and creating a climate-resilient landscape within the River Wye catchment.

Project update: December 2023

The Wye Adapt to Climate Change project is very much in its infancy, but momentum is building. The project focuses on engaging with landowners, tenant farmers and communities within the River Wye catchment to work together and build landscape resilience to adapt to climate change. This will include Nature Based Solution, developing sustainable farming practices and community Climate Action Networks. The Herefordshire priority areas are the Wellington Brook catchment, the Yazor Brook catchment and various tributaries along the Wye between Bredwardine and Hay-On-Wye. Villages in these areas are experiencing an increased frequency in flood events as our climate is becoming more unpredictable and so we hope do deliver direct change for these communities through working with local landowners.
