Herefordshire Wild Youth Forum

I'd like to invite you to be part of making Herefordshire a wilder place to live!

Herefordshire Wildlife Trust is asking young people across the county to come and be part of its new Wild Youth Forum.

I'm Matt and I've worked on environmental issues for the last ten years. I'm 32 years old now and I want to help other young people in Herefordshire to campaign and be active on environmental issues.

I know that many young people are passionate about the state of our environment and very concerned about problems like climate change, plastic pollution and the loss of wildlife.

You don’t need to have any prior experience of working on environmental issues. We’re setting up this youth forum because we believe that young people can help us to make Herefordshire better for wildlife, nature and the environment. And we’ll be part of a growing national movement of young people asking politicians and the Government to make the whole UK better for wildlife and nature.

Even though it’s Herefordshire Wildlife Trust setting up the Wild Youth Forum, we want it to be owned and run by young people (aged 11-25).

We’ll meet in the evenings once a month to begin with at a location in Hereford or elsewhere in the county.

As a member of the Forum, we will:

  • ask you what you want the Forum to do
  • seek your views and ideas on improving the environment for people and nature in Herefordshire
  • offer you opportunities to learn more about a career in the environment sector
  • work with you to design events and campaigns
  • support you to take forward your ideas
  • give you the chance to meet politicians and talk to them about the environment
  • offer you opportunities to get involved in practical nature conservation work managing nature reserves and looking for wildlife
  • help you to make sure that your involvement with the forum contributes and counts towards your extra-curricular activities
